Echo is a version of ping for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It works by sending a series of small pieces of information, called "ICMP Echo packets," to a specified Internet-connected computer. It measures the time taken for the computer to respond, and lets the user know that time for an arbitrary number of packets.

About Echo

Echo works over any network connection (3G, EDGE, or WiFi) and on any iPhone or iPod Touch device with software newer than version 2.0. It lets you ping any computer, on the Internet or a local network, by IP address or by name. Echo can keep multiple ping results and summary statistics on-screen and accessible to the user as long as the application stays open.

For system administrators and network technicians, Echo provides a familiar, command-line based appearance; for new users, Echo has an intuitive, simple-to-learn graphical input style that makes pinging hosts a snap.

Need help?

Although Echo is extensively tested before every release, it's very possible that it doesn't do everything a user wants or breaks under specific circumstances. If this is the case, please e-mail the developer with a detailed description of your problem. You can also use this e-mail address to request additional features in the next release of Echo.

Note: Echo has recently been updated to resolve several minor bugs. If you are experiencing trouble with Echo, please make sure you are running the latest version available from the iPhone App Store.
